To nurture the thriving Indian startup scenario, especially in the fields of artificial intelligence and machine learning, tech giant Google announced the opening of the India chapter of its global Launchpad Accelerator mentorship programme.

Launchpad Accelerator India is based in Bengaluru and is focused on supporting startups which are solving India-specific challenges using AI and ML.

Over the last three-and-a-half years, Google’s Launchpad has successfully supported hundreds of startups from India. From short format startup mentorship activities like Launchpad Start and Build to the six-month global Launchpad Accelerator, Indian startups have experienced the best of Google’s mentor network, resources, methodologies and technology.

30 Indian startups have benefitted from their global Launchpad Accelerator program, helping them collectively raise over $70 million and drive revenue increases of almost 500%.

Google said in a blog post, “Based on the growing maturity of the Indian startup ecosystem, last year we launched an India-only pilot Solve for India, to identify startups that were focused on building solutions that serve India’s needs using latest technologies… Building on the efforts of our Launchpad offerings till date and based on our learning from the pilot, we’re excited to announce our new mentorship program tailored exclusively for startups based in India and deploying ML or AI to build solutions for India’s local needs.”

Karthik Padmanabhan, Developer Relations Lead at Google India had told a newswire that they had shortlisted 10 startups from 160 total startups by travelling across 15 cities in India and were now ready to scale this pilot as a dedicated programme for India. This list included startups like Nebulaa, Slang Labs, PregBuddy, LegalDesk, PaySack, Vokal, FarMart, Meesho, Pratilipi and M-Indicator.
