Here comes a good news for the aspirants willing to grow a career in analytics field. With an aim to strengthen the workforce in analytics space, India’s largest software services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has partnered with four colleges across the country that would offer courses in Big Data.
With an intent to bring digital revolution, the step is directed towards creating a much stronger pool of workforce in the digital technology space in India. Swami Vivekananda University (West Bengal), St Xaviers College of Arts and Science (Ahmedabad), Central University of Rajasthan (Rajasthan) and St Joseph’s College (Bengaluru) are the colleges with which TCS has collaborated to offer the course.
Starting from July 2016 and designed for a duration of two years, these colleges will confer MSc programme specialising in Big Data. The program duration would be of 2 years including 3 semesters and 1 semester of internship. And the company would themselves train the faculty too.
The course would be made available to graduates in courses like economics, statistics, mathematics and econometrics with a seat for 30 students in the course from each college.
Having trained more than a lakh employee in less than a year’s time, TCS leads the race when it comes to big data in the country. And there would be no better contender to work in the direction of addressing the manpower crunch in the areas of big data and analytics.
The program has undoubtedly fetched great support from the students. And if all goes well, the company is willing to partner with engineering colleges to add Big Data to M.Tech courses in the coming years.
