Twenty Two Motors launched it smart electric scooter, Flow, equipped with AI and cloud capabilities at the Auto Expo 2018 being held at Greater Noida and New Delhi.
Vijay Chandrawat, COO and co-founder said at the launch, “We are the only company in the world to provide matchless features such as state-of-art sensors, smart features, lithium ion storage, and Internet of Things. The Flow is the most convenient way to travel, providing ample range for daily travel. To start with, we plan to sell over 2,00,000 units in the first 36 months of the launch.”
One of the highlights of Flow is that it is cloud and AI-enablement. It has 24×7 connectivity to a cloud server which allows a user to monitor the performance of the vehicle even when the user is not around. Data analytic algorithms employed by the server analyses the data and notifies the user about possible service needs. Flow also comes with a dedicated user-centric mobile app and has AI-enabled features that helps track its movements remotely. In addition to this, the scooter has an in-built Geo-Fencing system that provides security from theft, alerts the user when it crosses a set geographical boundary, and provides the user the option of shutting down the vehicle using the app.
Flow weighs around 85 kilos and comes with a lithium-ion battery-powered DC motor. The battery takes around five hours to charge, and can facilitate a journey of 80 kms at 60 kmph after charging. The higher-end version comes with the an option of dual battery
The Government of India has been pushing for a shift towards electric vehicles, and Flow along with other electric vehicles launched at the expo seem to be a step towards this shift.
“Flow, our first and flagship product, is way ahead of time, not just for the Indian market but also several international markets. Electric Mobility is the future of the world – a near future; not distant. The Government of India has the vision of making the country electrically mobile. We are more than aligned with this mission, rather ahead of it, ” said Parveen Kharb, CEO and Co-Founder, Twenty-Two Motors
The vehicle is priced at ₹74,740. With an investment of about $70 million, the company intends manufacture 50,000 vehicles a year over the next two-and-a-half years at its upcoming state-of-the-art manufacturing unit at Bhiwadi, Haryana. Last year, the Gurugram-based company had also raised $1.6 million in pre-Series A funding.
