In a quest to beat the norms in the field of AI, Google has constantly been making newer developments in the field. It’s DeepMind AI, advanced AI assistants for smartphones, are just an example of how serious the company is, in its AI led efforts.

To add on to it, Google recently acquired the Bangalore based AI startup Halli Labs for an undisclosed amount. This former Stayzilla CTO led company was founded four months ago with a deep belief around artificial intelligence, machine learning and NLP.

With this acquisition Google would be able to utilize advanced AI and ML technologies to upgrade older domains and platform for a better performance.

Prior to Google, the likes of Microsoft, Facebook and Apple, have carried out similar deals in the past to strengthen their hold in the artificial intelligence domain.

Apparently, the startup acquisition is be a part of Google’s Next Billion Users Initiative which is focused at expanding the company’s reach to countries like India, which already has a large user base. The startup wrote in their blogpost that by joining Google’s Next Billion Users team, they intend to help get more technology information into people’s hands around the world.

Halli Labs was founded with the goal of applying modern AI and ML techniques to old problems and domains — in order to help technology, enable people to do whatever it is that they want to do, easier and better”, said the company blogpost.

Co-founded by Pradhuman Jhala and Pankaj Gupta in April this year, Halli Labs was set up with a specialization in speech recognition and natural language processing tools.
