Analytics Case Competition and Symposium, 2013 – IME, IIT Kanpur

The Industrial and Management Engineering department (IME) at IIT Kanpur is organizing a 2-day long Analytics event ACCS’13 (Analytics Case Competition and Symposium) on 28^th and 29^th September, 2013. IME recognizes the importance of analytics in today’s information rich business environment. This event, first of its kind organized by the IME department, is an effort to encourage the development of industrially relevant analytical skills among its students. The event has two parts:

Case Competition – Student teams from MBA and M.Tech (IME), Mathematics & Statistics and Economics departments from IIT Kanpur will work for a week to develop analytics supported solutions for business cases provided by our event partners, Bridgei2i and Dell Global Analytics. There will be an internal poster competition on the 28^th of September. On 29^th September 2013, the top 8 teams will make presentations to external judges from our event partners, Bridgei2i and Dell Global Analytics. The top three winners will be given cash prizes.

Symposium – Experienced professionals from analytics industry will share their vision about the future of the industry, how analytics is used in businesses, and how young graduates can prepare for a career in this domain.

Invited speakers include:

Bhaskar Kumar - National Head – Risk & Business Analytics at Bajaj Finance Ltd – a graduate of the Delhi School of Economics, he has 11 years of experience in the field of credit risk and portfolio management, with stints at GE Capital, HSBC and Bajaj Finance Ltd.

Subhro Datta - Advisor at Dell Global Analytics – an Economics graduate from Calcutta University, he has more than 8 years experience in the analytics industry including stints at Dell Analytics, WNS Global services and GENPACT.

Sulabh Dube - Advisor at Dell Global Analytics – a graduate of the Indian Statistical Institute, he has 5 years experience in the analytics industry at Dell Analytics, Fidelity Management and Research and Wipro Technologies.

Karthikeyan Damodaran - Delivery Leader, Consulting Services at BRIDGEi2i Analytics Solutions – an MBA from NIT Trichy, he has 11 years of experience at BRIDGEi2i,  Hewlett Packard Global Analytics Group and GENPACT.

Santosh Mishra - HR Director at Innovation Labs; [24]7 Inc.com will be giving his insights on human resource aspects for the employees in the analytics industry. He has 13 years of experience as an HR professional with stints at Wipro Technologies, Microsoft, AOL Online, Monsanto and Innovation Labs, [24]7 Inc.com
